Winning Connections worked with Fight Back New York to defeat Hiram Monserrate and elect Jose Peralta in the March 16 special election in New York's 13th Senate district. Monserrate opposed marriage equality, and was one of the "gang of 3" Senators who threw Albany into chaos last summer. He was ultimately expelled from the Senate after being convicted of assaulting his girlfriend. He was running to reclaim his old seat.

The victory was especially sweet because Monserrate was one of the most outspoken opponents of same-sex marriage in the Senate, while Jose Peralta supports equal rights for gay and lesbian couples. We want to congratulate Jose Peralta for a well-run campaign, and the whole team at Fight Back New York, including Whitman Insight Strategies, for a job well done.
